About Tobin – Earth elemental and Inner Landscapes

E. Tobin Eckian

I am a professional artist working in that manner which means I have to sell some of my work in order to eat. Hence, I am finally working larger (more mola when a piece sells) AND offering limited edition (1/144) and open edition portions of paintings called ‘Thumb tack art’ (prints no one minds whether you take a tack to it and up on the wall it goes). Please see my Etsy Shop for those goings Ons and CHameleon Gallery of Newburyport, Mass.

my initials are e.t.e. that means summer in french. I feel like i lived in french andorra in another life, or maybe in the South of France. (said in the voice of Marcel the Shell with Shoes on http://vimeo.com/14190306)

I paint plants, minerals, animals and Orbs which makes me an ELEMENTAL ARTIST

My art focus is about staying sane and connected to Oneself in a world seemingly gone haywire. While creating, I aim to maintain my sense of humor about things and keep my energy intact, true and my joy sustained, as I paint hopefully in a buoyancy that is easily transferred to the viewer. I also like to work with all the good fairies – some of them disguised as dogs and cats and other animals.

The ‘good fairies’ are actually kind and helpful orbs (the ones you sometimes see show up in your photographs? tho’ not all orbs are of the kind nature, so use your discretion).

Every artist who stays at it long enough develops a narrative, a story that takes place within one piece and is connected to all the other pieces of art. The attention towards making art goes through many different experimental phases. For instance, I have worked for 15 years with prints because of the advent of printmaking from home computers made it easily accessible. Many artists offer prints of their works. I have at times also. I only make one of a kind original art now ( stated May 22, 2010). I do use parts of my paintings in other works using laser prints and this is to link and continue the narrative I have been developing since the 1980′s.
